The Busan Library is a public library located at 33, Sasang-ro 310beon-gil, Sasang-gu, Busan. It opened on November 4, 2020.
To get there, take Busan Subway Line 2 and exit at Deokpo Station, Exit 2.
You can also take city buses No. 15, 31, 62, 148-1, 169, or 338 and get off at Deokpo Market (Deokpo Station).
The exterior of the building is very modern, sophisticated, and stylish, reflecting contemporary architectural design.

On the first floor of the Busan Library, there is a management office where the staff oversees the entire building and security, along with seating areas and a digital zone designed to help citizens get one step closer to the digital world.

On the second floor, there is a reading area called 'Book Maru' where visitors can read various types of books, including literature, history, periodicals, specialized resources, large-print books, braille books, audiobooks, youth books, and comics. There is also an exhibition hall. I was lucky because when I visited, the exhibition hall, which is sometimes empty when there are no ongoing exhibitions, was hosting an exhibition titled Yoo Hong-jun's Room: The Breath of Aesthetics, The Record of Life, so I had a great opportunity to explore the exhibition as well.

On the third floor, there was a reading area called 'Chaeknuri-teo,' where visitors could access books on philosophy, religion, social sciences, natural sciences, applied sciences, arts, as well as foreign language books in English, German, Russian, and more. There were also art books and reference materials available. Although the space was not large, there was also a preservation archive where historical records are stored.

On the 4th floor, there is a rooftop rest area called 'Baram Shelter' and a café. At Baram Shelter, you don’t necessarily have to buy coffee from the café — you can simply enjoy your own food or admire the beautiful scenery of Sasang while soaking up the sunlight on the rooftop.
Alternatively, if you prefer to enjoy delicious food and coffee with your friends in a cozy indoor atmosphere, the café is also a great option.

With that, I wrap up my visit to the Busan Library, one of Busan's representative landmarks. What’s truly amazing is that all of these facilities can be enjoyed free of charge, for which I am genuinely grateful to the city officials of Busan.
Especially during the summer, the library offers cool, refreshing air conditioning, and in the winter, it provides warm heating throughout the building.
I hope many people, whether visiting alone or with friends, come and spend quality time at the Busan Library. 💃
