Pukyong National University was the only higher education institution located in Gyeongsangnam-do during the Japanese colonial period and immediately after Korea’s liberation. It was established in 1996 by merging its predecessors, Busan Fisheries University and Busan National University of Technology. Counting its history from the founding year of Busan National University of Technology in 1924, this year marks its 101st anniversary.
It is a prestigious regional national university with a long history and is home to the World Fisheries University, an international institution under the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization).

Inside Pukyong National University's Daeyeon Campus, there is a place called "Walker House," located in the Engineering Building 1. During the Korean War, this building was used as the command headquarters for the U.S. 8th Army.
It was later named "Walker House" in honor of General Walker, which I found quite fascinating.

Most universities in Busan are located on hillsides, making the roads leading up to them quite steep.
However, Pukyong National University doesn’t have such steep slopes, which made touring the campus much easier and more enjoyable.
Personally, I found the combination of the pond and landscaped pavilion near the main building to be a perfect spot for chatting with friends or enjoying a packed meal.

The Central Library was also grand and spacious. Directly opposite the library is the Water Sports Center, which is equipped with facilities for free swimming, gym workouts, golf practice, and a screen room, all available for students to use. It made me want to try them out myself someday.

Here and there, I could also see some old buildings, and it was nice to see students enjoying snacks and tea time in the cafeteria, creating a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere.

Today, after visiting Gwangalli Beach, I toured Pukyong National University.
The weather was hot and humid, making me sweat all over, but it was truly meaningful to see so many interesting sights.
What’s even better is being able to share this experience and these memories with all of you. :)
