In Busan

Despite the cold today, I took a walk along the riverside path in Sasang-gu, a place I’ve always loved.
The weather was so freezing that even having my hands out for a second made them feel like they were going to turn into ice! T.T

But these little cuties were out on the river today, swimming around so peacefully.
They were absolutely adorable! Hey guys, is it actually warmer inside the water? haha

I see my duck friends all the time, but wait—I spotted a nutria swimming in this freezing river today!
It was so surprising.
Since it was my first time seeing one, we actually locked eyes for about 30 seconds.
Maybe it found someone my size just as curious as I found it! :)

And finally, here is a stunning landscape photo to wrap things up.
The river may be half-frozen, but the photo itself feels so warm.

Hello everyone !!!

Today’s story is about delicious Korean bungeoppang.
Have you ever heard about the Korean snack called bungeoppang?
Or perhaps you’ve even had the chance to try it at least once?

Bungeoppang is a beloved national snack in Korea that appears in late autumn.

For reference, bungeoppang literally means “bread shaped like a carp,” as it resembles the fish called bung-eo.

The batter is made with glutinous rice flour and wheat flour, and it’s typically filled with sweet red bean paste, custard cream, or other fillings.
You simply pack in plenty of filling and grill it until both sides are nicely golden brown, flipping it back and forth as it cooks!

So I finally went ahead and bought some bungeoppang.
One interesting thing about bungeoppang is that the price varies across the country.
In Busan, it’s usually 1,000 won for two pieces,
while in other regions—especially places with a higher cost of living—it can even be 1,000 won for just one.
I boldly bought 2,000 won worth of sweet red-bean bungeoppang and hurried home with quick steps. haha.  😋

 

They usually pack them in these simple paper bags,
and since this style has been used for such a long time,
just hearing the word bungeoppang brings back old memories and a sense of nostalgia.
The bag says to enjoy the snack, so let’s go ahead and dig in—hehe.🫡

I’ve arranged the bungeoppang I bought in a nice display.
The two pieces are beautifully cooked.
Don’t they look delicious to you as well, with that perfectly golden-brown color?

The inside of the bungeoppang was filled with sweet red bean paste.
The photo didn’t quite capture how it really looked.
If I were to describe the taste in words:
when you take a bite, the crispy texture and the rich, sweet, nutty flavor of the red bean spread through your mouth.
Toward the tail, there seems to be a higher ratio of glutinous rice flour, so you can really feel the moistness and chewy texture of the glutinous rice.

Today, I’d like to share my visit to the migratory bird feeding grounds at the Nakdong River Ecological Park in Busan.
The feeding grounds at the Nakdong River Ecological Park are designated as Natural Monument No. 179 and are known as Korea’s largest habitat for migratory birds.
It is said to provide stable food sources and a safe resting place for wintering birds.

When I visited, I saw many mallards, which are one of the common winter migratory birds.
But amusingly, there were flocks of pigeons as well.
Usually, the pigeons I’m familiar with don’t often fly in large flocks,
but perhaps because there were so many mallards this time, the pigeons were also flying together in groups.
That sight was quite spectacular.
It was truly wonderful!

Even when I look back on it, the scene still feels incredibly magnificent.
The pigeons formed their own formations and soared gracefully into the sky,
and at a glance, it almost looked like winter migratory birds flying in formation. Haha.

In the photo below, the vast blue sky, the airplane coming in for landing, and the birds freely soaring between them naturally evoke a sense of grandeur and the beauty of freedom.

Next, here is a glimpse of the mallards, a type of winter migratory bird.
Before introducing these adorable ducks, I couldn’t pass up capturing the beautiful autumn scenery of Busan in photos.
Even in the picture of the white reeds shining under the blue sky, you can almost sense the fresh, earthy scent of nature.

The last photo and video show the adorable mallards relaxing in the sun with their friends and family.
You can see them waddling around,
and they seemed curious, fascinated, and a bit puzzled by seeing a human taking pictures of them for the first time tilting their heads as if to get a better look. 😂

Something huge is coming!!!
The international fireworks festival that will end the year in style in Busan is happening next week!

Aren’t the colorful fireworks painting the night sky just stunning and magnificent!!!


On November 15th, the night sky over Gwangalli Beach will be lit up with dazzling fireworks.
The best view is obviously from Gwangalli Beach itself, but keep in mind it can get extremely crowded, making it difficult to get close. : /
If that’s the case, you might consider nearby spots like Haeundae or, for a more local touch, the Hwangnyeongsan Observatory Deck, which is a favorite date spot among Busan residents. 😜
Both offer great views of the spectacular fireworks display!

To get to the festival venue, you can use the transportation options below or park your car at the nearby parking lots.

• Subway: Busan Metro Line 2, Gwangalli Station, Exit 5 – 12-minute walk
• Bus: Routes 41, 42 – get off at Gwangalli Beach, 5-minute walk
• Parking: Nearby public parking lots available

To get to Haeundae Beach, take Busan Metro Line 2 to Haeundae Station and exit through Exit 5, then it’s about a 5–6 minute walk. You can also take buses 307, 185, or Express 1003.

If you want to go to the Hwangnyeongsan Observatory, get off at Geumnyeonsan Station and take Exit 6. From there, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes on foot.
It might sound a bit tiring, but arriving early and walking up with your partner, family, or friends can be a fun little trek before the festival.
If you’re in a hurry, taking a taxi is also a good option!

I went to the Garden Show near Samrak Ecological Park in Sasang-gu, Busan. 🌲
I entered Samrak Ecological Park, which I really love and often visit.
There was a sign for the Garden Show right at the entrance.

While walking along the left side, I was struck by how beautiful the river looked.
The sunlight dancing on the surface made it sparkle,
and it made me wish that everyone’s life could shine just as brightly. 😇

And here we are, finally stepping inside!
This seems to be the main area of the Garden Show.
From the entrance, there’s a big gate that represents the show,
and it’s both majestic and wonderfully eco-friendly.

To the right of the entrance, there was a garden.
The plants and trees were beautifully paired with shaded seating,
so friends, couples, and families could relax and enjoy the view together.
It’s a combination that fills you with inner calm, the refreshing scent of the forest, and a feeling of nature gently easing away any heavy or gloomy thoughts. 🌿

Moving closer to the center,
I came across the huge sign representing the Busan Garden Show,
a lovely path that’s perfect for strolling with loved ones,
and stunning landscaping that made the atmosphere even more enchanting.

In the area, I came across Busan’s beloved mascot, Boogi.
“Boogi, what are you up to? Are you going to enjoy the gorgeous Garden Show all alone?!” 😂
The cutie Boogi, the colorful flowers, and the clear blue sky made me feel as if I had stepped right into a fairy tale.
Autumn had arrived in Busan, bringing with it the warm, cozy feeling that only this season can offer.

There’s even a photo spot here.
Families, friends, and couples can take pictures together and make some truly lovely memories!

The leafless trees create a lovely harmony with the pond next to them,
